Healthy Start Pediatrics was established by Dr. Ashima Madan in 2009, a double-board-certified pediatrician and newborn specialist with several years of experience at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford. She completed her pediatric residency and neonatal-perinatal fellowship at the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine. She also served as an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Stanford University.

She has provided intensive care to several thousand newborns and infants over the years in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Packard Children's and El Camino Hospitals (ECH). She served as the Medical Director of the NICU at ECH and was one of the key physicians involved in taking it to Level III capability providing care to critically-ill infants.

She has authored and contributed to roughly 60 publications (see CV) and has been selected to “Best Doctors In America” for several years. She was one of the first in the US to show that Asian Indian mothers have a higher risk of delivering babies with a low birth weight compared to other ethnic groups.

She is married and the proud mother of two children. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, long walks, and cooking.
